Hope's teachers say, Hope has run the morning show for many years and has been invaluable to the program! She goes above and beyond in her time and effort to get the show on the air. She was also a leader in the High School drama club, and was truly dedicated. She shows strong leadership skills, and we are excited to see all of the wonderful things she will achieve in her future!
Norah's teachers say she is always so positive! She's someone that everyone relies on. During the tennis season, Norah would often stay late to continue practicing because she was having so much fun and she wanted to continue learning. As a senior, she took on a leadership role as captain. The underclassmen looked up to Norah, and during every match, she represented the school with the utmost class and respect. Even during her toughest matches, she never gave up and kept fighting through every point. Norah consistently exemplifies the qualities of a Spartan, and she is always the kindest person in the room. She is a consistently hard worker, always enthusiastic about class, and a reliable and thoughtful classmate. Her resilience and willingness to work serve her well!
Emily's teachers say that she is a compassionate and caring student who makes all of her peers feel welcome! She has participated in Unified Sports and events for all four years of high school. Whether Emily is hyping up her team at a pep rally, plunging into the ocean, or acting as a partner on the court, she is always willing to go above and beyond to support others. Emily’s attentiveness, warm personality, and compassion for others have a way of making everyone feel welcomed and valued. She communicates well and advocates for those around her. Emily consistently demonstrates dedication, leadership skills, and patience towards her teammates and peers!

Jess was nominated by her teachers because she not only shows excellence and pride in all that she does, but is an asset to any team she is on. She extends this to other endeavors within the community. This includes working at Salisbury Farm, where she was rapidly promoted and has gained a reputation for knowing her job thoroughly. Additionally, she serves as a volunteer at the North Scituate Fire Department, has earned every certificate that her age allows, and passed trials beyond what you'd expect her small frame would allow.

These students have make quiet contributions to our school community and have empowered themselves and each other, providing support and encouragement. These students have worn many hats and played many roles while they have gone about their days, in their own ways, every day for the past four years at Scituate High School.

Congratulations to Brandon Amaral, Gavin Demers, Tyler North, Kaden Barry, Luke Carter, Ruby Weissman, and Deanna Ormonde on being nominated for a “Student Spartan Award.” Students are recognized by teachers and staff for their involvement in something positive for the school culture and community. Don Pepperd was honored as part of a celebration of Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) history month at the State House on May 13. He created and developed the Perspectives in East Asia course and has proven time and again to be a top notch educator at Scituate High School. Congratulations Mr. Pepperd!
The Working With Children class was busy last week! Students completed their puppets, and on Thursday, the class met their third grade pen pals and enjoyed games and activities. Thank you to Mrs. DiLuglio, who let our Working With Children class visit her classroom! All students had an enjoyable time, and so did the teachers!

The Foreign and Regional Foods students have been preparing meals from many countries throughout the world! Last week, they prepared chicken fried rice, pot stickers, and cinnamon roll danish.
Students in our Working With Children course are designing puppets based on a children's book! When complete, they will be donated to the Scituate Early Learning Center.

The Girls Lacrosse Team visited students at Clayville Elementary last Friday to help students start their day off with smiles and high-fives! Clayville students were thrilled to see them.
Physical Science students at SHS were engaged in learning about light and optics during a lesson taught by Mr. Guertin from Rhode Island College (RIC) during his final week of student teaching.
A few of the stations included: light dispersion, refraction & color mixing and the science of shadows. Although many of the students have observed or experienced these phenomena on their own, Mr. Guertin's lesson explained the mechanism behind each of them with this kinesthetic lab.

A reminder that the NHS and RIHS induction ceremony is on Wednesday, May 7, starting at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium! Family and friends are welcome to attend--no tickets or reservations are required.
NHS members met this week for an hour of service. Some members helped stuff catnip toys to be donated to the Friends of the Scituate Animal Shelter. The toys will be sold at the Scituate Art Festival to benefit the Scituate Animal Shelter.
Some members helped prepare programs for the upcoming NHS Induction ceremony, while others gathered positive notes that will be given to high school teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week.
