Class of 2025

Jacob McNamara

Elementary School: Hope Elementary School

Post High School Plans: Once I graduate high school, I plan on attending Rhode Island College and majoring in Wellness and Exercise Science.

Dream Job: My dream job is to be a sports trainer for a professional sports team such as the New England Patriots or Boston Bruins. This is my dream job because I would still be involved with sports after school.

Who was your favorite teacher or staff member during your time at SHS?:  Having only one favorite teacher or staff member would be a difficult choice. Miss. Hackett, Ms. Ferrucci, Mr. Wentworth, and Ms. Morton are the first names that come to mind. Each one of them have played a crucial role in my 4 years here at Scituate. Miss. Hackett is the school psychologist, even though I've only went to her my senior year, she has been one of the biggest helps in my life and I don't know how to thank her for everything she has done. Ms. Ferrucci was my Sophomore year English Teacher and she made me actually like the subject because of the way that she teaches her class. Mr. Wentworth was my Freshman year Physical Earth Science Teacher, he was the first person who helped me get out of my comfort zone and learn to live a little bit. Lastly, Ms. Morton, who I had as a Culinary Teacher for 3 years straight. She definitely taught me how to cook, but she also showed she cared about her student's lives outside of school and I want to thank her for that.

What was your favorite class you took during your time at SHS?:  My favorite classes were Horror Fiction and Crime Stories because I found watching the documentaries to be really fun.

What advice would you give to next year’s ninth-grade students?:  Honestly, just be cool with people and don’t try too hard to impress anyone. Get your stuff done on time so you’re not stressing later. Join something—sports, clubs, whatever—because that’s how you meet people. Don’t overthink everything—most of the time, people are too caught up in their own stuff to notice yours. Just be respectful, stay out of drama, and enjoy the ride. Freshman year is just the beginning.

What makes SHS special?: The biggest thing that makes SHS special is the fact that every adult in the community cares about you. There’s not one person who seems to not care.

What will you miss the most about SHS? : The thing I’ll miss the most about Scituate is all the drama that comes with high school. It's what made high school- well, high school.
