We are excited to welcome new faces to the Scituate school community this year!

Meet Dr. Jessica Simonelli, she will be joining the Spartan team this year as the Speech-Language Pathologist for Scituate Middle and High School. She is committed to helping students grow in their self-advocacy and communication skills and fostering an environment of inclusivity and acceptance for all!

We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Quintin Nard, our new SHS Culinary Arts Teacher! He is a proud graduate of Johnson & Wales University with over a decade of experience in the culinary industry, Mr. Nard brings a wealth of real-world expertise and a passion for education.

We are also very happy to have Mr. Robert Anastasi who will be our new Head of School Counseling! Prior to his role as a school counselor, he taught both Art and Library Media at the secondary level, and is also a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC). Mr. Anastasi is excited to work with students and families to increase knowledge of college and career-related opportunities.

SHS Senior, Nettie Hartley, joined the Rhode Island Association of School Principals - RIASP Summer Conference yesterday to be part of their student panel. Nettie did a fantastic job representing Scituate High School and answering questions from Principals across the state. Principal Hassell also joined in on all of the summer conference fun to help host the panel!

On the last day of the HOSA-Future Health Professionals International Leadership Conference, the Grand Awards Ceremony took place. Congratulations to Valentina Mancini for placing in the top 10 of the Clinical Specialty event! The SHS HOSA members also enjoyed some down time and were able to explore Nashville!

On day three of the HOSA-Future Health Professionals International Leadership Conference, the last of our competitors took part in the Public Service Announcement, Health Career Display, and Mental Health Promotion events. Students also took part in workshops. The day ended with the Recognition Session, where Mr. Wentworth was awarded the Outstanding Local Advisor award!

Students were busy on day two of the HOSA-Future Health Professionals International Leadership Conference! Students competed in events, were recognized for accomplishments, and took part in workshops. Congratulations to Hailey DeMerchant and Lauren Henault, who received gold level recognition for their work in the Health Literacy Ambassador event. Valentina Mancini was recognized in the HOSA Happenings event as well. Other members competed in Community Awareness, Research Poster, Health Education, and Clinical Specialty events.

Congratulations to Ella Werbecki, who earned a HOSA scholarship! Ella was a recipient of the Citizens Bank scholarship.

Scituate HOSA members have wrapped up day one of the HOSA-Future Health Professionals International Leadership Conference. Rhode Island HOSA received a membership increase award, and the Eastern Region won the HOSA Cup for the most membership growth! Our students attended the symposium, traded pins, and took part in the Anatomage Tournament. The day ended with opening session, and students were eager to take on day two!

With the end of the school year came so many smiles, laughs, and memorable moments. The Class of 2025 will surely be missed as they move into this next phase of their lives.

Yesterday, we celebrated the incredible dedication and hard work of our teachers and staff at our End of the Year Celebration! Every achievement this year across the Scituate School Department is a direct result of their passion, perseverance, and commitment to our students. We are so proud and so grateful for all they do! We want to send a special congratulations to our Teacher of the Year, Vanessa Mezzancella, and our Support Staff of the Year, Helen Dichiaro, who continue to go above and beyond for their students and for our school community. Thank you for all that you do!

We want to congratulate the girls' and boys' Lacrosse Teams for working so hard and having such a great season this year! Even though their final games didn't end in the results we hoped for this time around, these athletes showed grit, determination, and did an overall fantastic job this season!

Congratulations to Paul, who was nominated for this year's Spartan Pride Award! Paul is a wonderful student who participates in several of our sports teams. He is kind to his classmates and always has a positive outlook on life. We can't wait to see what the future will hold for him! Austin's teachers and the Scituate staff agree that Austin has shown Spartan Pride throughout his time at Scituate. Elizabeth is an outstanding student who is always willing to assist her peers in class. She travels to the Elementary School weekly spending more time than required working in a third grade classroom. She always has a smile on her face and shows support and kindness to all. She has been a cheerleader for four years and is the team manager for the boys baseball team. Elizabeth illustrates what being a Spartan is all about! Congratulations to Madilynne who has been recognized for the 2025 Spartan Pride Award! Maddie has been very diligent and hard working when it comes to her academics. She is a wonderful student, and always tries her best with a smile on her face. She is resilient and kind to all those around her and she has grown so much in her time here at SHS. Sadie's teachers say she was selected for the Spartan Pride recognition because she consistently works hard in her classes and is a leader in both sports and her HOSA chapter, where she is an integral member. She is always willing to help others with their projects, help with communication efforts for the program, all while working on her own project. This year Sadie and her teammate placed bronze in the Community Awareness event earning her the chance to travel to the International Leadership Conference. She exemplifies the HOSA core values of learning, leadership, service and innovation as well as being a Spartan! Scituate teachers and staff recognized Ava for this year's Spartan Pride Award because she has taken initiative since her freshman year to always be involved in the school culture.
