Elementary School: Hope Elementary School / Greenbush Elementary School / Homeschooled

Post-High School Plans: After high school, during the summer, I'd like to travel with my best friend and have fun before we both go off to college. I am going to the University of Rhode Island and following the Pre-Vet Pathway, majoring in Animal Science. This is a stepping stone in my pursuit of becoming a veterinarian.

Dream Job: My dream job is to become a veterinarian -- but it's still a toss-up between exotic animals or household animals. It has been a career for me ever since I was a little girl. I adore animals, and being able to help, maintain, and work with them every day sounds like the perfect way to spend my life.

Who was your favorite teacher or staff member during your time at SHS?:  It was Mr. Wentworth. I first had him during my freshman year, during COVID, and he taught Physical Earth Science. During my senior year, he's been my Biology 2 Honors teacher. He's just such a real person, empathetic, and understanding, and he cares about how students are doing. His way of teaching is awesome too; he makes it entertaining and engaging. He's been my rock throughout high school. Even when I didn't have him as my teacher, I'd often visit him between classes just to check in with him. I honestly don't think I'd be doing as well in high school without him to rely on, because, even if I just need to rant about trivial things, I know he's there to listen and support me. Brian Wentworth is truly an amazing teacher, and I give him credit for always trying to support everyone.

What was your favorite class you took during your time at SHS?:  Myths and Legends with Mr. Kelly in my junior year. It was a great environment because there was a class of only juniors and seniors, we all got along, and Mr. Kelly made sure that we all got a say in what we learned. We did a lot of entertaining projects and learned about so much in a semester.

What advice would you give to next year’s ninth-grade students?:  Have fun! Freshman year is important for class rank in senior year, so if you care, try. Aside from that, don't sweat the small stuff, if you fail one quiz, it isn't the end of the world.

What makes SHS special?: Everyone says the fact that it's so small, which is true. Everybody knows everybody!

What will you miss the most about SHS? : Probably getting to see my friends every day. A lot of us are going to different colleges, and that's going to be strange. Most of us have known one another since middle school if not elementary school. Going our separate ways is going to be tough.
